Connect a Camera

Using your Sony Wifi enabled Camera

Before you start check your camera manual if your camera has built-in smartphone control (a6400, A7 III) or if you do have to download an app on your camera.

If you do have a camera with built-in support for smartphone control, do the following.

  1. Open the connection settings on your camera. The location may vary depending on camera, but on the A7 III it can be found at Network1 > Ctrl w/Smartphone.
  2. On the Ctrl w/Smartphone screen enable Ctrl w/Smartphone and Always Connected.
  3. Select Connection, which will open the connection screen and start emitting a Wi-Fi signal from the camera.
  4. Press the Delete button to Connect with a password.
  5. On the device running Stop Motion Studio, open Settings and navigate to Wi-Fi, select the WiFi network and enter the password that’s displayed on your camera’s screen.
  6. Your camera screen will display Connecting.
  7. Launch Stop Motion Studio
  8. Click in the capture settings to open the camera list.
  9. Select the Sony Wifi camera.

If your camera does not have built-in smartphone control, make sure the Smart Remote Control app in installed on your camera. You may have to download the app from the Camera Appstore onto your camera if not already installed.

  1. Start the Smart Remote Control app on your camera.
  2. Once Smart Remote Control has launched, press the Delete button to Connect with a password.
  3. On the device running Stop Motion Studio, open Settings and navigate to Wi-Fi, select the WiFi network and enter the password that’s displayed on your camera’s screen.
  4. Your camera screen will display Connecting.
  5. Launch Stop Motion Studio
  6. Click in the capture settings to open the camera list.
  7. Select the Sony Wifi camera.
